About Spiritfingers8 Scanlations: Hello! The Spiritfingers8 team began with one person (spiritfingers8) about 7 months after Weblations stopped releasing new translations of the webtoon Spirit Fingers by Han Gyung Chal. Thanks to many talented team members, we were able to release 30+ translated chapters. After taking a break I am back to work on a few new webtoons!
Interested in helping out with the scanlation process?
Currently this is a one-person project that I do in my free-time.
At the moment we are not looking for any more help, but thanks as always for offering!

- Interested in the cleaning/translating process? Read below!
- There is a specific way I like to extract, clean, and edit the chapters so that it is easier for me to add the translations in the word bubbles and all the sound effects.
- The cleaning process we use for the special long webtoon format:
- I use Photoshop CC, but I'm sure Photoshop CS6 is compatible as well.
- I go to the webtoon's original site and choose the chapter using google chrome browser
- Next, I use the Full Page Screen Capture extension to get the entire webtoon strip (it is usually broken up into 2 pictures) which I save onto my computer.
- On Photoshop, open a new document with the dimensions of about 1366x60000 pixels and transfer the parts of the webtoon onto the new document. Make sure both parts fit together into one seamless strip. (make sure "snap" option is activated on photoshop so the two pieces click together correctly).
- Merge all layers together (there should be around three layers that will be merged into one background layer)
- Crop image to get rid of the header image (while leaving some white space at top) and the comments section (on the bottom) . Next, I crop the width to be 690 pixels (Making sure that the crop box in centered as not to cut off the art on the edges).
- Remember to save~
- Then I create 2 new transparent layers, one for cleaning the word bubbles and one for cleaning up the sound effects. (Feel free to ask me questions about how this is done or youtube it, there are lots of helpful vids there too). I try to leave as much original content as possible when it comes to punctuation points like ! ? or ... (but if it just doesn't fit I just clean it out too).
- You will have to know how to use the "spot healing brush tool" for the colored/patterned parts to get a clean look.
- Finally I get to the translation part. Translations are usually typed onto a separate word doc and then transferred over later. I use a common scanlating font, WildWords Bold or Komika Hand or Action Man, for the talking and I usually use TrashHand for the sound effects.
- After the chapter's text is all translated, the English translations are typeset onto the cleaned chapter. I also may have to make the SFX words higher, wider, more spaced, or curved depending on the original.
- After all of that is finished, the chapter is proofread quickly (but I still miss some errors heh...) and I divide the entire strip into slices and save them as .jpg files before uploading them to weebly! And there you have it!
